On Saturday 30th May, 11am to 2pm, St Mary’s will host Rooted in Community – an annual event organised by the community, for the community. A celebration of place, nature, history and creativity, it’s a chance to come together and enjoy everything that makes this space so special.
Taking place in St Mary’s Churchyard, the day will feature a variety of activities for all ages. The day will include plant stalls, churchyard/ history tours, workshops and more.
Browse a selection of plant stalls run by professional and community groups, including Leahurst, Henry Maynard Primary School, Bee17, and XR: perfect if you’re looking to buy something new for your garden.
There will also be a range of guided tours, bookable at the front desk on the day, including:
- Churchyard Tours with Head Gardener Tim Hewitt at 11.15am and 12.30pm (free)
- Medieval Walthamstow Tour with Neil Houghton at 12pm (free)
- Clocktower Tours with David Christmas (times TBC)
There will also be two paid, nature-inspired craft workshops with local artist Laura Villares: one at 11am for children and families (book here) and one at 12.40pm for adults (book here).
Our café, Ruttle & Rowe, will also be open throughout the day, serving drinks, toasties and snacks.
Whether you’re coming for the plants, the history, the crafts or simply to enjoy the atmosphere, we’d love to see you there. Put it in your diary and join us for a day rooted in community.
